HUGE BLONDE RAY TAKEN LIGHT GEAR

An angler using 12lb-class gear to catch turbot had a real battle on his hands when he hooked a huge blonde ray weighing 30lb 8oz.

Chris Mathews was on a four-hour trip aboard Guernsey skipper Richard Seager’s Out The Blue, when he boated the big fish. Chris, a retired antique dealer from Guernsey, fished a sandeel bait on flowing trace carrying a size 4/0 hook. Other fish caught included bass and turbot to 7lb.
