WIN £3,000 FOR A NEW RECORD

A new specimen fish competition has been launched for anglers fishing on participating charter boats out of the Dorset port of Weymouth.

Any angler breaking a British record stands to win £3,000, and there is £1,000 on offer for a port record.

Anglers must pay £5 to register in advance, which allows them to take part on any participating Weymouth charter boat up to December 31, 2017. The boat must leave and return to port on the same day, and only fish on the eligible list count.

Other prizes are for nominated species, best overall area specimen, most unusual fish, best other specimen (not mini species), and top boat. Sponsors are Zebco, Fin-Nor and Quantum. A new World Pairs Championship will be held in Spain in 2018. Each nation will be able to enter three teams.

England's choices will be the top three pairs at an open competition planned for September 2017 and fished to international rules.
