Q: What is the best tide and time of day to fish the Bristol Channel from the shore, for someone like me who can’t cast far?

PF says: After doing a bit of research, I’ve discovered that Burnham-on-Sea offers the chance to target thornbacks, congers, bass, flounders and soles. These are regularly caught close in by local anglers, with ragworms a popular bait choice. If you fish near the lighthouse on a neap tide, starting at low water and the whole flood, you stand a real good chance of catching.
