Q: I’m going to the Greek island of Corfu at the end of September and I’m going to try LRF. Can you recommend a travel rod for LRF that will fit in a standard suitcase?

AK & DS say: There are plenty of four and five-piece travel rods suitable for LRF. Leading brands include Sonik, Spro, Favorite and Sakura.

In terms of what we can confidently recommend, take a look at the HTO Rock Rover. Firstly, the Rock Rover is genuinely suitable for LRF. It casts tiny rigs of only a few grams and you soon forget that you aren’t using your everyday rod back home. Its best feature is that HTO have included two tips – a solid tip for light work and great for flinging Isome worms, and a tubular tip that is perfect for launching small metal jigs and plugs for pelagic species.
