Q: How do I tackle a bass surf beach using lures?

HG says: It depends on how big the surf is, of course, but I would use a lure like the discontinued Bass Bullet – the Westin Kongetobis fishes exactly the same way. Whack it out and wind it in, adjusting your speed to work it on the surface or just beneath.

I would also try some metals (casting jigs or spinners) and think about bumping paddletails, like the Fiiish Black Minnow.

Look for features – holes and gullies and sandbanks – at the venue. Don’t discount simply whacking out your more regular sub-surface minnows.
