Q: For best results for bass when fishing from a small boat, should I troll at low speed or drift and cast a lure using a slow retrieve?

DL says: Both. A small inshore boat is perfect for targeting inshore bass and, depending on the area you are fishing, both casting and trolling a range of different types of lure will catch fish.

Top-water lures ar ede adly in very shallow water, but try some diving ones in slightly deeper water.

Trolling live or artificial sandeels rigged a few metres in front of a barrel lead is a basic technique that can be deadly for bass.

Simple trolling technique

Fit a barrel lead weight on the mainline, followed by a bead and a swivel to connect the hooklength. Bass beater Live or artificial sandeel is when deadly trolled.
