Q: I’m ner­vous about tar­get­ing larger fish species from a kayak. What would you ad­vise?

GR says: Go for smaller fish un­til you are very com­fort­able with your own lim­its and the kayak’s lim­its.

There seems to be a push to tar­get big­ger and meaner species as the years wear on, but I would ad­vise any­body that is ap­pre­hen­sive about any as­pect of kayak fish­ing to progress in very small steps. Most of the larger cap­tures are made by very ex­pe­ri­enced kayak an­glers. They are very much some­thing for new­com­ers to as­pire to but some com­mon sense should be used.
