Great catches from our junior readers.
Kian Nicholson enjoyed a productive session in Morecambe Bay recently when he bagged four good plaice weighing up to 2lb 4oz. The 10-year-old from Clitheroe, Lancs, used black lug tipped with squid on a two-hook flapper rig.
Matthew Connelly, who comes from Pontypridd in the Rhondda, South Wales, caught this decent flounder during a shore fishing session at Cardiff Barrage. The 14-year-old used ragworms tipped with squid for bait.
A beach session at Seaford, East Sussex, yielded this cracking 2lb 12oz plaice for Jack Brumwell. The Canvey Island, Essex angler used a two-hook loop rig armed with black lug tipped with squid to tempt the large flattie.
Not only did Harley Thompson (6), from Jarrow, Tyne & Wear, win the junior section in a Ryhope SAC match, but he came second in the senior event too! He used frozen black lug tipped with white-worms to catch a flounder and whiting double.
Plymouth, Devon angler Jack Brockman, aged 15, succeeded in tempting this 3lb 2oz mullet with a piece of floating bread crust when he fished from a pontoon in his local harbour.
On his third beach fishing trip, Ethan Austin, from Canterbury, Kent, used a black lug and squid combo on a two-hook paternoster rig to land this whiting that weighed 1lb 3oz.
