Hip Portland targets UK
AGENTS should prepare for a rush of interest from clients curious about Portland, Oregon, after the destination completes its three-week awareness campaign in London.
The Pacific Northwest gateway city is bringing its You Can, In Portland (#YouCanInPortland) message to The Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch for a multifaceted takeover from April 19-May 7.
On show will be some of Portland’s most inspired products – and the people who design, create and celebrate them.
Features will include a showcase of Portland-made goods in a pop-up shop, a series of events that includes talks with leading designers and entrepreneurs, live mural making, craft beer sampling, local wines, Portland coffee, DJ gigs, free vegan tattoos and the opportunity to pedal part of the 4,910-mile distance from London to Portland on a static bike. Riders will have the chance to win on-the-spot prizes, as well as being entered to win one of five pairs of round-trip tickets to America’s bicycle capital.
The hook is the relaunch of Delta’s nonstop flight from Heathrow to Portland International Airport, which begins flying on May 4. The four-times-a-week service will operate until October 26 2018.
