Ajman ready for UK trade
LITTLE-KNOWN Ajman, one of the United Arab Emirates, is investing in the UK by opening its first overseas office.
Scott Marketing, fronted by Ian Scott who was UK Director for Dubai Tourism for eight years, has been appointed to introduce the destination to the UK travel trade.
Just a 30-minute drive from Dubai airport, Ajman hopes to flourish as a tourism destinationon the back of new developments and hotel openings that include the Oberoi Beach Resort Al Zorah, the Radisson Blu Hotel Ajman and the Wyndham Garden Ajman Corniche. Also new is Al Zorah Marina.
Top Ajman attractions include Ajman Corniche, a four-kilometrelong esplanade overlooking the Arabian Gulf; Masfout, a small enclave in the Hajar Mountains popular for hiking and biking; the lush oasis of Manama; and the Al Zorah Nature Reserve, an area of mangrove forest and lagoons that’s home to nearly 60 bird species.
Among the cultural attractions are the Ajman Museum, an 18th century fort filled with artefacts and exhibits.
