TASTY TREATS SERVED UP ON NEW ZEALAND SHOOT DAY

Shooting Gazette - - Elevenses -

Dickie Sansome sent us some images of the elevenses at his syndicate shoot at Whaingaroa, near Raglan in New Zealand and he said. “Our host farmer and his wife, David and Nicky Peacocke cater for us very well. But it has become a tradition on the shoot that each gun brings a dish for The Beaters. On the menu this particular week we had various cakes, apple strudel, flapjack, pheasant turnovers, sausage rolls, smoked pheasant breasts, pheasant pie, ham and pea soup and the good old Kiwi staple, bacon and egg pie. For those who are more interested in what is under the bonnet; it is an ex Australian Army Land Rover Perentie. They were built up in Australia with galvanized chassis and an Isuzu diesel engine. So they don’t leak oil and they can pull a chook off its nest!”
