Well done RSPB

Shooting Gazette - - Letters -

I have, in the past, been highly critical of the RSPB for a number of well-deserved reasons. But now I find myself, for the first time, rushing to their defence. They are receiving massive vitriol for killing corvids, foxes and gulls to protect endangered ground-nesting species. Some members are threatening to cancel their membership, stating that ‘they did not join the charity for it to kill wildlife’. They did, however, join the charity for it to protect and help endangered birds and the two activities are inexorably linked. I applaud the RSPB, in this instance, and hope they stick to their guns (no pun…) and continue to have the courage to do what they know to be right, putting the welfare of their endangered, ground-nesting birds first. Well done, RSPB. There, I said it…
