Posthumous awards received at Midland
Our recent report on the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation Long Service Awards failed to mention that several posthumous presentations were also made at the Midland Game Fair.
One was made to Frank Jenkins, whose legacy includes the eponymous memorial trophy won this year by Jack Depledge (News, 27 September), which was collected by Frank’s son Martin, also a gamekeeper. Another was made to Stephen Vale, who had worked at the Cornbury Park estate in Oxfordshire and the Eling estate in Berkshire. Members of the Vale family were presented with a duplicate medal and a certificate.
Earlier in 2017, William Webb received a Long Service Award in recognition of 50 years of employment at the Broadlands estate in Hampshire.
