BRIAR: INTRODUCING WATER (CONT.)
have to swim. If you overwhelm them in deep water too quickly it can put them off. Fortunately Briar thought the water was fantastic and, soon after going in the paddling pool, was following her “nanny”, Tilda the German shepherd, into the water trough. As she showed how happy and confident she was, I let her swim in some bigger bits of water with the older dogs. It is so important that at this stage it remains fun and a game. Steadiness and control will come later.
