Pin­tail on the marsh

For the past two years a pair of pin­tail has at­tempted to breed on a small marsh on our shoot in Cam­bridgeshire. We man­age the marsh for con­ser­va­tion, not shoot­ing. A bird­watch­ing friend has told me that nest­ing pin­tail are exceedingly rare breed­ing birds in the UK. Is he right?
