Space­flight com­pany Blue Ori­gin still hopes to start tak­ing space tourists on suborbital flights by the end of 2018 us­ing its New Shep­ard cap­sule – even though crewed tests won’t go ahead this year. How­ever, founder Jeff Be­zos stated that safety was the com­pany’s top pri­or­ity. “I al­ways re­mind the team that we’re not rac­ing,” says Be­zos. “We’re not go­ing to take short­cuts. We’re go­ing to put hu­mans on this ve­hi­cle when we’re ready and not a sec­ond sooner.”
