story so far

The streets of London’s E18 continue to be paved with only debt for The Vic landlord and landlady Mick and Linda Carter… and that situation isn’t about to improve any time soon.

Secret Weyland & Co worker Luke Browning, who’s pretending to work for The Vic freeholders Grafton Hill, has told Mick and Linda the pub needs extensive repair work, which they’ll have to pay for.

And, with no money, that’s an issue…

this fortnight

Mick and Linda are still reeling from the news they’ll have to find a huge amount of dosh when an even worse bombshell is dropped on them.

‘The skint Carters are told they’ll be kicked out of the pub if they can’t find the money to pay for the repairs!’ reveals our insider at Eastenders.

It’s grim news for a family who’ve already had enough to deal with in 2017. But there is a glimmer of hope.

‘Whitney suggests they could try to pay off the building works in instalments,’ says our source. ‘So Linda calls Fi Browning and arranges a meeting with Grafton Hill.’ Problems solved, right? Sadly, not. Mick, Linda and the rest of the clan have no idea Grafton Hill is a front company for Weyland & Co, the firm run by James Willmott-brown, who’s out to destroy the Square.

So it’s no surprise when The Chairman of Weyland & Co, who’s really Fi’s dear old Uncle Hugo, arrives at the Vic with Fi for the meeting.

‘The Chairman listens to Linda and Mick as they enthusiastically explain how their repayment scheme might work,’ continues our insider. ‘But any hopes they had are soon dashed.

‘The Chairman tells them they have five weeks to find the money for the repairs… or they’ll be evicted!’

After the meeting, streetwise Shirley Carter starts to wonder how much Fi knew about these developments. Fi defends herself, but we reckon Shirley’s onto her, particularly when Fi later returns to The Vic with a counter offer: the Carters sell the leasehold to Grafton Hill for a large lump sum payment.

What next?

Mick and Linda adore The Queen Vic. Owning a pub was their dream and, even though that dream is rapidly turning into a nightmare, we reckon they won’t sell.

But to retain The Vic, they have just five weeks to raise the sort of money they simply don’t have access to. How on earth are they going to get the funds?

So will the family be evicted just in time for Christmas and face the festive season without a home to call their own? Say it ain’t so, Enders! Sadly, we think it may be…

The heat is on as a desperate Mick and Linda seek some help from Shirley and Johnny...

The Carters, joined by Fi, are told by The Chairman they have five weeks to pay up!
