story so far

Robert Preston’s been released from prison and he’s invited his ever-supportive girlfriend, Michelle Connor, to be his partner in the Bistro.

But Robert also has a lump on one of his testicles and, despite Michelle telling him to get it checked out, Robert’s in denial.

He’s even lied to Michelle and he told her he visited the doctor and he simply said he was suffering from a groin strain.

this fortnight

It’s Daniel Osbourne who makes Michelle realise her fella’s not been very honest.

‘Concerned, Ken’s son tells Michelle that Robert never attended his appointment with the doctor,’ reveals our Corrie insider. ‘So Michelle gently approaches Robert and she reveals she knows he lied.

‘Robert refuses to discuss the situation, but Michelle makes him promise to get the lump checked out.’

Matters take a frightening turn, though, when young Joseph Brown suddenly runs out into the road, straight into the path of the Bistro car.

As we can see from the pictures, hero Robert rushes into the road to save him! It’s exciting stuff and Robert ends up in the hospital after he’s run over by the van and he ends up motionless on the cobbles.

The good news is Robert is told he’ll make a full recovery from the accident. And while he’s recovering, Michelle overhears his former wife, Tracy Barlow, talk about how Robert hates hospitals since his dad died from cancer.

‘The penny drops for Michelle, who realises why Robert’s in denial,’ adds our source. ‘She’s then more shocked when he confesses he found the lump weeks ago!’

Concerned Michelle decides to act. She uses the fact Robert’s an invalid in

hospital to her advantage and she arranges an appointment with a urologist. He advises Robert has a scan. But it’s not good news.

Our insider adds: ‘The urologist tells Robert the lump is most likely malignant and they’ll have to remove his testis.

‘Then the news gets even worse when Robert’s told he needs an operation as soon as possible!’

Will the scared chef agree to it?

what next?

We’re told Robert hides the truth about the situation from Michelle, which doesn’t sound like a good idea to us. Then he makes an equally daft decision.

‘Desperate to forget all about his illness, Robert heads to the casino,’ says our source. ‘Johnny Connor tags along with him and he’s there as Robert loses every penny he has on him at poker.

‘Johnny tries to drag him home, but Robert carries on…’

The last time Robert went to the casino, he had a disastrous fling with Carla Connor, who was also prone to pressing the self-destruct button.

Is Robert about to do something equally wreckless and risk his business? We can’t reveal what happens. When he comes home, though, he tells Michelle that he only lost £100. But has he lost a lot more? And will he face his fears and go ahead with the operation and be around long enough to face the consequences if he has?

Watch out! Robert races into the road to get Joseph and Jake out of the path of the Bistro car…

Scared! Michelle stays by Robert’s side as Kate phones for an ambulance Crunch! The car hits Robert and flings him to the cobbles! Self-destruct? Is Robert in trouble after losing at poker in a bid to forget his illness?
