Dur­ing her brief life Marylin Mon­roe was film and stage star, sex sym­bol, fash­ion icon and singer. But, de­spite her tal­ents, global fame and huge for­tune, by the time of her death aged just 36 in 1962 she was strug­gling with de­pres­sion and a con­sid­er­able drug habit. But there had been a brief win­dow of hap­pi­ness – on the day she mar­ried third hus­band, play­wright Arthur Miller, in June 1956.

The mar­riage was over by 1961 and the cou­ple, above, di­vorced, but bi­og­ra­phers agree Mar­i­lyn was hap­pi­est at the time of their dou­ble wed­ding in­clud­ing civil and re­li­gious cer­e­monies, the lat­ter which took placed at the coun­try home of Miller’s agent, in Wac­cabuc, New York.

This vast and lux­ury French- style prop­erty, built in 1948, over­looks a lake in the sub­urb of Lewis­boro in Westch­ester County and is sur­rounded by four acres of grounds and for­est. It is also op­po­site the up- mar­ket Wac­cabuc Coun­try Club golf course. The house has four bed­rooms and six bath­rooms. It cov­ers 4,291 feet and in­cludes a guest room with its own bal­cony/ ter­race as well as a pool and pool house, and an out­door kitchen. It is avail­able through Su­san Still­man of Houli­han Lawrence for $ 1.675 mil­lion.
