Ex- dogs home boss is charged with fraud
THE former boss of Birmingham Dogs Home has been charged with fraud following a yearlong police investigation into allegations of missing donations.
Simon Price, 53, of Somerton Drive, Marston Green, was initially arrested on suspicion of theft. The charity’s for- mer chief executive has been charged with 11 offences of fraud by abuse of position, and one money laundering offence, between 2012 and 2016.
His wife, Alayna, 38, and of the same address, who was previously commercial manager at the charity, has been charged with six offences of fraud by abuse of position and one money laundering offence between the same dates.
The pair will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on November 1.
West Midlands Police have been investigating the case since Mr Price was arrested last November and the case was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service for review in September.
In August the charity appointed a new chief executive, Giles Webber.
