Solihull News - - NEWS -

A ROAD bridge which crosses the A45 between Meriden and Fillongley is set to be closed for more than a year, Solihull council has warned.

The busy Fillongley Road Bridge in Meriden requires extensive maintenance, meaning the 59- year- old structure will be out of action from January next year until March 2019.

Diversions will be in place. Two consultation sessions will be held at Meriden Library on Thursday, November 9, form 2pm to 7pm, and Saturday, November 11, from 10am to 1pm.

Councillor Ted Richards, cabinet member for transport and highways, said: “The bridge has played a significant part in serving the local community, however it is in need of a new life in order to keep it safe for future commuters.

“We understand the works may have an impact on motorists due to increased traffic, but we will aim to keep disruption to a minimum.”
