MP backs cam­paign

IT’S al­most the sea­son for Christ­mas par­ties and that means a fes­tive tip­ple or two for many.

But when does al­co­hol con­sump­tion be­come a con­cern?

Shock­ing fig­ures from the Of­fice for Na­tional Sta­tis­tics show there were 7,327 al­co­hol- re­lated deaths in the UK in 2016.

So on Mon­day, Meri­den MP Caro­line Spel­man will be sup­port­ing Al­co­hol Aware­ness Week.

The Soli­hull In­te­grated Ad­dic­tion Ser­vice ( SIAS) cam­paign in Soli­hull is be­ing run in part­ner­ship with Al­co­hol Con­cern and Ad­fam. Mrs Spel­man said: “I am proud to lend my sup­port to SIAS’s Al­co­hol Aware­ness Week cam­paign in or­der to high­light the risks as­so­ci­ated with drink­ing too much al­co­hol and to raise aware­ness of the ex­cel­lent sup­port ser­vices they of­fer lo­cally.”

The SIAS team will be out in the bor­ough meet­ing mem­bers of the com­mu­nity through­out next week.
