Town cen­tre sets out stall for cool Yule

CHRIST­MAS is set to come alive across Soli­hull town cen­tre with a se­lec­tion box of fes­tive at­trac­tions for the whole fam­ily.

At the heart of the fes­tiv­i­ties, a colour­ful Christ­mas mar­ket fea­tur­ing 50 stalls sell­ing sea­sonal gifts, hand­made jew­ellery, dec­o­ra­tions and treats will open for ten days on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 23.

It will be sit­u­ated in High Street, Mill Lane and Mell Square and pro­vided by RR Events, the com­pany be­hind the pop­u­lar mar­ket held dur­ing the Food and Drink Fes­ti­val this au­tumn.

Touch­wood’s pop­u­lar Santa’s Grotto is back among the sparkling fes­tive lights.

The cen­tre will also wel­come back Pres­ley the po­lar bear and this fes­tive sea­son chil­dren can help cre­ate a hat and scarf to keep him warm. To add to the fes­tive feel- good fac­tor ev­ery Satur­day be­tween Novem­ber 26 and De­cem­ber 16 there will be at­trac­tions, per­form­ers and ad­di­tional en­ter­tain­ment across Soli­hull town cen­tre ev­ery 30 min­utes.

Look out for the sing­ing lamp- posts, Scrooge on stilts, a Vic­to­rian ma­gi­cian, the naughty elves, sto­ry­telling tents for chil­dren and a vis­it­ing choir.

The Three Wise Men will be vis­it­ing the town cen­tre with their camels and ded­i­cated han­dlers.

Chil­dren will be able to see the an­i­mals in their en­clo­sure after they have fin­ished their pa­rade through the town cen­tre.

Mell Square will be home to the Selfie Sleigh with elf stat­ues, colour­ful LED lights and a fes­tive bar sell­ing Christ­mas spe­cials and mulled wines and the High Street will be home to a char­ity Christ­mas gift- wrap­ping ser­vice to make sure your presents look their best for the big day.

Soli­hull’s own ‘ Mr Panto’ Mal­colm Stent ( pic­tured) is treat­ing au­di­ences to one fi­nal year of fun and silli­ness at The Core The­atre as he takes to the stage in his panto fi­nale, Jack & The Beanstalk – after an amaz­ing 27- year pan­tomime run.
