Town centre sets out stall for cool Yule
CHRISTMAS is set to come alive across Solihull town centre with a selection box of festive attractions for the whole family.
At the heart of the festivities, a colourful Christmas market featuring 50 stalls selling seasonal gifts, handmade jewellery, decorations and treats will open for ten days on Thursday, November 23.
It will be situated in High Street, Mill Lane and Mell Square and provided by RR Events, the company behind the popular market held during the Food and Drink Festival this autumn.
Touchwood’s popular Santa’s Grotto is back among the sparkling festive lights.
The centre will also welcome back Presley the polar bear and this festive season children can help create a hat and scarf to keep him warm. To add to the festive feel- good factor every Saturday between November 26 and December 16 there will be attractions, performers and additional entertainment across Solihull town centre every 30 minutes.
Look out for the singing lamp- posts, Scrooge on stilts, a Victorian magician, the naughty elves, storytelling tents for children and a visiting choir.
The Three Wise Men will be visiting the town centre with their camels and dedicated handlers.
Children will be able to see the animals in their enclosure after they have finished their parade through the town centre.
Mell Square will be home to the Selfie Sleigh with elf statues, colourful LED lights and a festive bar selling Christmas specials and mulled wines and the High Street will be home to a charity Christmas gift- wrapping service to make sure your presents look their best for the big day.
Solihull’s own ‘ Mr Panto’ Malcolm Stent ( pictured) is treating audiences to one final year of fun and silliness at The Core Theatre as he takes to the stage in his panto finale, Jack & The Beanstalk – after an amazing 27- year pantomime run.
