Lions launch Festive Walk to raise cash for charities
IT’S that time of year when Knowle & Dorridge Lions start to count down to their Festive Walk.
Every year for 25 years the Lions have organised charity walks between Christmas and New Year and this year’s will fall on Wednesday, December 27, starting from Baddesley Clinton National Trust House. There will be a choice of four routes – a mini walk over 1.4 miles around the National Trust grounds suitable for all ages, as well as ones of 3. 9, 5.4 miles and a challenging 10.7 miles for those who arrive early.
New organiser Lion James Dawes said: “Last year more than 2,500 walkers, many with their dogs, donated almost £ 14,000 and followed one of the sign- posted trails.
“We are also opening the registration earlier from 8.30am for those who want to do a morning walk and return home for lunch. After your walk you can visit Baddesley House and Gardens free and enjoy a mince pie and mulled wine with the Lions.” Beneficiaries of this year’s Festive Walk are the new Breast Cancer Haven in Solihull and Solihull & Birmingham Headway. The Lions will also use half of all funds raised for local causes.
