YOURS 5k race will raise cash for hospice
GEORGE Thomas Hospice Care, Cardiff’s local hospice, has set its sights high with its annual fun run, the Bay 5K.
Following the success of last year, 2017’s fun run, on March 12, will return to Cardiff Bay and is being sponsored by Western Power Distribution.
Nicky Piper, the charity’s event organiser said: “We need to raise money to keep our nurses on the road this year, visiting patients in their own homes across Cardiff.
“Last year we made 8,293 visits to patients at home and we expect the demand for our services to increase over the next 12 months.
The fun run is open to runners of all ages and is £10 to enter.
The charity has set itself an ambitious target of 500 runners and will ask participants to raise sponsorship for their efforts.
Chief executive officer of George Thomas Hospice Care, Mike Walsh, who will run again this year, said: “It is such a beautifully scenic run that, in my opinion, stands out from all others. This year we will also be having live music and stalls to entertain runners so I hope lots of people will support us.”
