Support offered after girl’s death
HIGH school pupils are being offered counselling after the sudden death of a 16-year-old girl.
Staff and pupils at Brynteg Comprehensive School in Bridgend were spoken to following the death of the Year 12 pupil, who was from the Brackla area of the town, on Wednesday.
South Wales Police confirmed they are investigating, but said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Head teacher David Jenkins said: “We recently learned that one of our Year 12 pupils has sadly passed away.
“Brynteg has always been a strong, close-knit community, and a range of services, including school-based counselling, has been put in place to support and assist our pupils.
“Naturally, our thoughts are with the family and friends deceased at this sad time.”
A police spokeswoman said: “South Wales Police is investigating the sudden death of a 16-year-old of the girl from the Brackla area.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file of evidence is being prepared for the HM Coroner.”
