Mid­dle men pro­vide op­tions for Warnock

THERE were times last sea­son when Cardiff City’s mid­field ap­peared wor­ry­ingly thread­bare.

Peter Whit­ting­ham’s exit was im­mi­nent, Stu­art O’Keefe and Emyr Huws were out on loan and the work­load was be­gin­ning to weigh heavy on Aron Gun­nars­son and Joe Ralls.

But Neil Warnock now has an ar­ray of op­tions at his dis­posal, with team changes ex­pected for the Blue­birds’ clash with Sh­effield Wed­nes­day to­mor­row. The mid­field dy­namic is cer­tainly an area wor­thy of dis­cus­sion, with fa­tigue ap­pear­ing to be an is­sue in the 3-0 de­feat at Pre­ston.

It means there are a num­ber of com­bi­na­tions could Warnock try against Wed­nes­day. Lee Tom­lin has only started two games since ar­riv­ing as the sum­mer’s mar­quee sign­ing, Loic Damour has proven him­self as a reg­u­lar first-team can­di­date; while Craig Bryson’s ar­rival gives Warnock an­other al­ter­na­tive.
