Middle men provide options for Warnock
THERE were times last season when Cardiff City’s midfield appeared worryingly threadbare.
Peter Whittingham’s exit was imminent, Stuart O’Keefe and Emyr Huws were out on loan and the workload was beginning to weigh heavy on Aron Gunnarsson and Joe Ralls.
But Neil Warnock now has an array of options at his disposal, with team changes expected for the Bluebirds’ clash with Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow. The midfield dynamic is certainly an area worthy of discussion, with fatigue appearing to be an issue in the 3-0 defeat at Preston.
It means there are a number of combinations could Warnock try against Wednesday. Lee Tomlin has only started two games since arriving as the summer’s marquee signing, Loic Damour has proven himself as a regular first-team candidate; while Craig Bryson’s arrival gives Warnock another alternative.
