F you're going to watch a show at one of the Welsh capital's theatre or concert halls, you might be wondering where you can go to enjoy a pretheatre meal first. And many of Cardiff's eateries offer a set menu for those who want a quick, tasty meal and drink before catching a show.
The capital is literally teeming with restaurants but here are some that cater especially for those with tickets to pop concerts, a play or even the panto. Giovanni’s in Park Place Where: 8 Park Place, CF10 3DP Contact: 029 2022 6299 Open: noon-2.30pm, 5pm-11pm Monday to Thursday; noon-11pm Friday and Saturdays, closed Sundays.
What do offer: They have a two course menu for £14.95 and you can choose things like Bianchetti Fritti (deep fried crispy whitebait) or sauteed mushrooms in garlic butter to start and pasta, chicken, lasagne or sea bass for mains.
After the show, you can go back and finish the night with coffee and a dessert (as long as there is room!).
There is also a Giovanni's on the Hayes, so it's a perfect spot for St David's Hall or the Motorpoint Arena too.

What’s on offer: It's available from 12noon-7pm and two courses cost £12.95.
Start with with one of their nine choices like homemade vegetable soup, grilled Italian sausage served in a bed of stir fried cabbage and smoked pancetta or fish cakes followed by a selection of pastas, pan fried hake or rib eye of beef.
Laguna Kitchen & Bar

What’s on offer: It's available from 5.30pm-7pm and the menu changes daily. Two courses cost £15.95 and three courses are £18.95.
Sample dishes include wild mushroom soup to start, followed by plaice goujons or grilled chicken supreme and then a selection of ice-creams/ sorbets to finish.
Henry’s Cafe Bar
Where: Park Chambers, Park Place, CF10 3DN. Contact: 029 2022 4672. Open: Monday to Thursday 9am11pm; Friday and Saturday 9am - 1am and Sunday 10am - 11pm.
What’s on offer: There isn't a set menu to choose from but it's the perfect place for a cocktail before the show and you tuck into anything from a burger to sandwiches, a classic combo sharer or roast lamb shank and a superfood salad. Ffresh Where: Wales Millennium Centre. Contact: 029 2063 6465. Open: 11am-11pm daily. Closed Mondays.
What’s on offer: Two courses for £19.50 or three for £23.50.
This is probably the most convenient as it's just minutes away from your seat!
Choose from perl las, orange and chicory salad or potted salmon, and then move on to bream with samphire and leeks or potato gnocchi with peas, beans and artichokes.
And if you have room for dessert, there is Welsh cheese, raspberry brulee or peach and almond tart.

What’s on offer: The pre-theatre menu is served daily from 12 noon to 7pm. Two courses cost £12.50 and three courses are £13.95.
You can choose from a number of choices to start including egg benedict, calamari or mackerel rillettes then follow it up with, among other choices, plaice, chicken seabass or steak frites.
If you opt for a three-course meal, there is a dark chocolate pot with creme fraiche, creme caramel, iced berries, chocolate mousse or peach crumble.

What’s on offer: There is a set menu from 12noon-7 pm Monday to Friday which is perfect for a meal before a show. It costs £11.95 for two courses or £13.95 for three.
Start with steamed asparagus or spiced beef kofta and then delight in a crispy cod burger or roasted aubergine, lentil and chickpea dahl.
If there is room and time for pudding, there are buttermilk pancakes or a warm chocolate brownie.
Juboraj Big Windsor Where: 15 Stuart Street, CF10 5BW. Contact: 029 2048 1167. Open: noon-2pm, 5pm -11.30pm 7 days a week.
What’s on offer: It's just £9.95 for two courses and if curry is your thing, you won't be disappointed.
There's things like chicken tikka, lamb passanda and chicken chat to start and karahi mixed begetables, chicken kholapuri or lamb jalfrezi as a main.

They are right opposite the WMC by the Oval basin so there's not far to walk
Unit 26, Mermaid Quay, if you want to head here before a show.
They offer a set menu from 12noon7pm every day, which is two courses for £10.95 or three courses for £15.95 but when there is a show on at the WMC, they offer a more extensive menu which is two courses for £15. What’s on offer: You get any two courses or £14.95. The choice is huge from appetisers like saucisson to starters including porc sauce Bearnaise or tarte au chevre to mains like boeuf bourguignon or nouvelle super salade and burgers or steak.
There are, of course, desserts and cheese too.

What’s on offer: There is a quick and easy dinner menu served at the restaurant which is a good option before a show.
It's £15.95 for two courses and you add £3 if you fancy a dessert.
Think crispy squid and smashed avocado to start or golden pork escalope or harissa squash salad for mains.
There is also steak for £3 more.
