T’S not always easy taking out a toddler.
They tend to be very energetic, very demanding and very prone to temper tantrums. So when you do want to get out of the house with the little one in tow, it’s always far nicer to go somewhere toddlers are made to feel welcome.
And that’s why we’ve rounded up some of the most toddler-friendly places and events in the Welsh capital that will keep your kids amused and happy.
If you want to go somewhere for a coffee that offers guilt-free pleasures for you and your little one, head to this friendly cafe in the heart of Whitchurch.
It’s perfect for breastfeeding mums with a Cariad’s “Love You” menu that delivers fuel to you and the baby. Toddlers can get stuck into some sumptuous smoothies and children’s meals like quesadilla panini pizzas, toasties or pasta with homemade sauce.
It also offers mummy massages, hosts kids’ parties and baby showers and will soon be offering cupcake
Once a month, during term time, pre-school children take priority on Techniquest’s exhibition floor.
There are additional activities, including storytime, mini-disco and craft tables, all aimed at encouraging young children to take their first steps in science.
The bright colours on the exhibition floor appeal to young children, who are encouraged to explore. Techniquest is also buggy-friendly, with nappy-changing facilities and lockers available.

The Clore Discovery Centre offers hand-on exploration of museum objects and lets little ones get to grips with some of the 7.5 million items that are normally buried away in stores.
Toddler time happens between 1pm and 4pm every Friday during term time.

The Cardiff Story is the first museum where visitors can see the story of the city through the eyes of its people, tucked inside the beautiful and historic Old Library building in the heart of the city centre.
For one Friday each month the museum galleries are transformed into a toddler and baby zone – with play, rhymes, stories, detective trails, craft, messy play, music and more. Dinky Dragons takes place on the second Friday of each month from 10am-3pm.
There are 11am and 1pm rhyme time and story time sessions and it’s free entry.

The centre is open from 10am every day with free activities and performances to keep all the family entertained.
