Happy Louis gets spot on sofa when he’s at work

South Wales Echo - - YOUR PETS -

Pet’s name: Louis. Breed: French Bulldog. Age: 18 months. Owner: Kate Ellam, 32, from Rhiwbina. Owner’s story: “Louis is from Cardiff Dogs Home. I follow them on Facebook and he popped up. You don’t see pedigree dogs in the dogs homes so I went down there to have a look at him. I walked him every day and fell in love.

“He was dumped in the street and he was really skinny. Now he’s a salon dog at my salon, K8’s Short Bark N Sides in Whitchurch.

“We just moved into the salon, but we’ve been going for four years. It’s been amazing – really busy.

“Louis comes to work with me every day. He sits on the sofa and looks out the window. He also plays with all the dogs that come in.

“You would never have believed he comes from a dogs home. He’s put on weight and he’s the happiest dog ever. He’s mischievous, cheeky and energetic.

“He’s very gentle. One time we fed him steak off a knife and fork.

“He loves children. Every time we go to the park, he runs off and wants to go into the park.

“We have another dog, Bailey, known as Mr B. He’s an 11-year-old pug. Louis has given Bailey a new lease of life. He wasn’t into playing but now he plays again now.

“They love food. When they get fed, they check each other’s bowls for food.

“We call him Lord Louis now and King Bailey.

“Louis doesn’t like to get up early in the morning. He has to be carried by me into the salon.

“He doesn’t like the rain or the snow or getting his feet wet.

“He is really good at doing tricks, though. We’ve trained him to stand up on his back legs and do a hi-five.”
