Man ar­rested af­ter col­li­sion

A MAN has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of drink-driv­ing fol­low­ing a crash on the A470 that left a child need­ing hos­pi­tal treat­ment for a head in­jury.

Po­lice posted a pic­ture of the af­ter­math of the crash on so­cial me­dia.

Four cars were in­volved in the col­li­sion on the south­bound car­riage­way at the Co­ry­ton in­ter­change, near junc­tion 32 of the M4 at Cardiff on Thurs­day.

The Welsh Am­bu­lance Ser­vice said three peo­ple were in­jured in the crash.

A spokes­woman said a child sus­tained mi­nor head in­juries and was taken to hos­pi­tal af­ter they were called to the scene just be­fore 7pm.

She added two adults suf­fered mi­nor in­juries and did not re­ceive hos­pi­tal treat­ment.

The main car­riage­way was closed for about an hour with cars hav­ing to go down to the round­about to then re­join the A470 af­ter the mo­tor­way.

South Wales Po­lice said: “One male ar­rested for driv­ing whilst un­der the in­flu­ence fol­low­ing a four-ve­hi­cle col­li­sion on the A470 at Cardiff.”
