■One World Week 2018 is marked by VSO In­ter­na­tional with a fundrais­ing curry evening. On Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20, 7pm, in the Pont­canna Scout Hall, Fields Park Road, Pont­canna, Cardiff CF11 9LB. Tick­ets £9 (stu­dents, low waged/ un­waged and un­der-18s £6; un­der-10s free) can be bought on the door, but book­ing is im­por­tant. ■ There will be a cof­fee morn­ing/ Christ­mas bazaar on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20, be­tween 10am and noon, in the Canol­fan, Beu­lah Road, Rhi­w­bina, Cardiff, in aid of Marie Curie Holme Tower, Pe­narth. Sale of cakes, books, hand­made greet­ing cards, crafts. Ad­mis­sion 50p.

■South Wales Post­card Club holds au­tumn col­lec­tors fair at Peny­lan Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Cardiff CF23 5HW on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20, 10am-3.30pm. Deal­ers will be sell­ing and buy­ing post­cards, stamps, books. Free val­u­a­tions. Ad­mis­sion £1 (chil­dren free).

■St An­drew’s Church, Tony­pandy, is 140 years old on Oc­to­ber 24, the old­est func­tion­ing church in the Rhondda, and there are a va­ri­ety of events to cel­e­brate a grand achieve­ment. There is a thanks­giv­ing ser­vice on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 24, at 7pm and open days on Thurs­day and Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 25 and 26, with a warm wel­come to ev­ery­one.

■Jour­ney’s End 1918-2018 is a day of events tak­ing part at St Woo­los Cathe­dral, New­port, on Satur­day, Novem­ber 10, 10.30am-4.30pm. It marks the cen­te­nary of the end of World War I. Fea­tur­ing mu­sic, film, talks, re-en­ac­tors, ex­hi­bi­tions, re­fresh­ments. Free en­try. Suit­able for the whole fam­ily. Or­gan­ised by Gwent Western Front As­so­ci­a­tion, sup­ported by Her­itage Lot­tery Fund.
