■St Andrew’s Church, Tonypandy, is 140 years old on October 24, the oldest functioning church in the Rhondda, and there are a variety of events to celebrate a grand achievement. There is a thanksgiving service on Wednesday, October 24, at 7pm and open days on Thursday and Friday, October 25 and 26, with a warm welcome to everyone.
■Journey’s End 1918-2018 is a day of events taking part at St Woolos Cathedral, Newport, on Saturday, November 10, 10.30am-4.30pm. It marks the centenary of the end of World War I. Featuring music, film, talks, re-enactors, exhibitions, refreshments. Free entry. Suitable for the whole family. Organised by Gwent Western Front Association, supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.
