HUGH Morris has stepped down as Glamorgan director of cricket after five years in the role as the county undergo a reshuffle.

Morris will focus on increasing his duties as chief executive after an independent review of Glamorgan’s season demanded changes at the welsh county.

The search now begins for a replacement as director of cricket, with Morris remaining at the club.

“With the disappointing performances on the pitch this season and the need to spread my time more evenly across the business, it has been decided to split the chief executive and director of cricket roles at the Club,” said Morris.

“Next year we have four Cricket World Cup matches at Sophia Gardens, as well as an IT20 match, followed by the ECB’s new competition in 2020 and the new international calendar.

“We are also working with Cricket Wales on developing a strategy for cricket in Wales to grow the game across the country. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the position but this is the right time for myself and the club to bring in someone with a fresh perspective to lead the department.”
