Bale set to miss Irish clash too
WALES talisman Gareth Bale is likely to miss Tuesday night’s UEFA Nations League clash with Ireland, manager Ryan Giggs has confirmed.
Bale watched from the stands as Wales lost 4-1 to Spain at the Principality Stadium, although he did venture onto the pitch at half-time to receive a Golden Boot for becoming Wales’ record scorer.
Wales’ star man sat out the game because of muscle fatigue, with Real Madrid asking Giggs not to risk him.
But the Welsh boss admitted afterwards he also expects to be without Bale (below) in Dublin.
“We’ll make a decision in the next couple of days because then we have to prepare for the game,” said Giggs. “If Gareth is not available we have to prepare to see what team we’re going to play, so we’ll make it sooner rather than on the day.”
Asked if it looks likely Wales will be without Bale, Giggs replied: “Yeah, it does.”
Ipswich’s Gwion Edwards has been added to the Wales squad which further indicates Bale won’t play a part.
