A red letter day as P.O. reinstated
THE community of Kingsbridge is celebrating following the re-opening of its post office which was taken out of service 15 years ago.
Residents are delighted by the decision to open the doors of Garden Village Post Office in Kingsbridge again.
Llwchwr Town Councillor Wilf Smith has been battling to get the post office back in operation, along with Gower MP Tonia Antoniazzi.
Ms Antoniazzi said: “I’m absolutely thrilled. I think it’s absolutely brilliant that we have been able to get the post office reinstated for the community as a whole.
“It’s so good to see something like this reopening at a time when the trend is to close these vital facilities.
“I am sure it is going to be a great asset.”
Mr Smith said they had fought hard for nearly two years to ensure the important service was available again to residents.
He said: “My main concern all along is that we have done this for the community and the people in the area have a post office again. This campaign has been going on since December 2016 and we have to thank business development field manager at the Post Office, Amanda Mcginley-heath, for helping us through the various processes.
“I would like to wish Mr Singh, who runs the Premier Store where the post office is situated, and his family all the success with this new venture.”
Shop owner Sukhdev Singh said: “I can’t thank Wilf and Tonia enough for the work they have put in on this.
“It’s not only great for me but it’s a great facility for the community.”
