Sentence awaits ‘on the run’ church burglar
A 22-YEAR-OLD man who failed to appear in court in relation to a number of church burglaries in Southport has been located.
Danny Hawkshaw was arrested over the festive period and will be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, January, 13.
Father and son duo Gregory (45) and Danny Hawkshaw (22) admitted burgling 12 churches in the Southport area.
Sentencing was delayed on November 24 after the son, who had been released on bail, failed to turn up for court.
The pair were due to learn their fate at Liverpool Crown Court in November for a thieving spree which saw them ransack places of worship in their home town but it has had to be postponed after Danny Hawkshaw, of Sandbrook Road in Ainsdale, Southport went on the run.
Judge Robert Warnock had no choice but to adjourn the case and issued a warrant for the arrest of the drug addict.
The duo targeted churches across Ainsdale, Scarisbrick and Southport, making off with hundreds of pounds in cash plus laptops, projectors and televisions.
