Sen­tence awaits ‘on the run’ church bur­glar

A 22-YEAR-OLD man who failed to ap­pear in court in re­la­tion to a num­ber of church bur­glar­ies in South­port has been lo­cated.

Danny Hawk­shaw was ar­rested over the fes­tive pe­riod and will be sen­tenced at Liver­pool Crown Court on Fri­day, January, 13.

Fa­ther and son duo Gre­gory (45) and Danny Hawk­shaw (22) ad­mit­ted bur­gling 12 churches in the South­port area.

Sen­tenc­ing was de­layed on Novem­ber 24 af­ter the son, who had been re­leased on bail, failed to turn up for court.

The pair were due to learn their fate at Liver­pool Crown Court in Novem­ber for a thiev­ing spree which saw them ran­sack places of wor­ship in their home town but it has had to be post­poned af­ter Danny Hawk­shaw, of Sand­brook Road in Ains­dale, South­port went on the run.

Judge Robert Warnock had no choice but to ad­journ the case and is­sued a war­rant for the ar­rest of the drug ad­dict.

The duo tar­geted churches across Ains­dale, Scaris­brick and South­port, mak­ing off with hun­dreds of pounds in cash plus lap­tops, pro­jec­tors and tele­vi­sions.
