WATERLOO return to action this Saturday at Hull and following a creditable performance, despite the defeat at home to Billingham in their final game of 2016, they will travel with some confidence, especially if the two week break has restored aching limbs and joints.

“We are hoping to be able to select from a fully fit squad for the first time this season”, said director of rugby Steve Wood.

“We lost a lot of players over the close season, in fact at one stage we had no font row at all! We have had to recruit and began our campaign with almost a completely new side.

“They are young and enthusiastic but have taken some time to gel but we are getting there and I feel very positive about 2017.

“Our last game at home to Billingham showed that we can compete with the best in this league and although we lost to a penalty try in the closing minutes we have taken a lot of positives from our overall performance. We gave the players some time off but they have come back to training as enthusiastic as ever and are ready to fight for our status in this league.”
