Elderly pair hurt in cemetery car crash
AN elderly couple were taken to Southport hospital after their car overturned at Southport Crematorium.
The female passenger had to be rescued from the car by firefighters when she was left trapped in the vehicle.
Both the passenger and the male driver were then taken to the Town Lane hospital in ambulances.
Neither are believed to have serious injuries, but the woman was left unconscious by the crash, shortly before midday on Friday, February 3.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened on the grounds of the Southport Road cemetery and crematorium.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 11.50am to a report of a vehicle overturned on the grounds of the cemetery. There were two people in the vehicle, a male driver and a female passenger.
“The passenger was trapped in the car, but fire fighters were able to get her out. There are not thought to be any major injuries.”
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed that two fire engines attended the scene.
