COMEDY star Ruby Wax OBE has revealed she is bringing her one woman show to Southport this year.

The American actress, mental health campaigner, lecturer, and author, born Ruby Wachs, is most famous in Britain for her 90s television shows The Full Wax and Ruby Wax Meets.

A classically trained actress, Wax starred in the 80s sitcom Girls on Top, and came to prominence as a comic interviewer, playing up to British perceptions of the strident American style.

She was the script editor for the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, also appearing in two episodes.

Her memoirs, How Do You Want Me? published in 2002, reached the Sunday Times best-seller list. Sassy and smart, Ruby brings her new show to the stage at The Atkinson in Southport on Thursday, November 16. Tickets for the event were released last Friday. The show will be based on her number one best seller, A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled. The 63-year-old has been honoured with the title of poster girl for mental illness and she gives a tour of the mind – how to use it, not lose it. Ruby Wax: Frazzled – is in the theatre at The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport from 8pm on Thursday, November 16. Tickets are £20 plus booking fee.
