Resort tourist stars shine in latest awards
BUSINESSES in Southport have once again been recognised in a top tourism awards shortlist.
Both the Ramada Plaza Hotel and The Atkinson have been nominated in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.
The Atkinson has been named alongside the likes of the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and the Liverpool Empire Theatre in the Entertainment of the Year category.
The Ramada Plaza was shortlisted in both the Hotel of the Year and Tourism Stars of the Year categories.
To be shortlisted for the awards, nominees are tested on a number of factors, including “commitment to excellence”, “staff training” and “sustainability of food”, and also receive a mystery visit inspection.
Enda Rylands, deputy manager at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Southport, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in two egories.
“We have been shortlisted in the Hotel of the Year category for five years running, so it’s nice to be higly regarded anomng out colleagues in the Liverpool City Region.
“It’s quite a rigourous process and to be in that company is fantastic. It’s a genuine honour to be on that shortlist.”
Mr Rylands also paid tribute to the hotel’s “phenomenal” staff, who he cat- said were rightly being recognised for their tireless work and their involvement in helping the local community.
Emma Anderson, director of The Atkinson, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised as a key player in the Liverpool City Region’s cultural offer.
“The Atkinson has been punching above its weight, bringing some for the best names in music, comedy, literature and art to the region since it opened its doors in 2013.”
The awards are open for public vote until Friday, April 7. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at St George’s Hall, Liverpool, on Thursday, May 18.
