Gabrielle’s on a mission of mercy

-

A SOUTHPORT student nurse is raising money to fund her “lifechanging” trip to India to work in slum clinics as part of her training.

Gabrielle Mace, 20, studies nursing at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk and is planning a placement abroad as part of her third year.

As part of her placement she will work in the slum clinics of New Delhi.

She said: “I know that this will be a life-changing experience. Being able to assist in caring for the sick and needy will completely open up my eyes.

“I’m feeling very nervous but excited. It’s going to be a lifechanging opportunity for me.”

Gabrielle also said that she was expecting a bit of a culture shock when she starts her threeweek placement in January.

To be able to take part in this “outstanding opportunity” Gabrielle needs to raise the funds to cover the cost of her trip.

She needs to raise £1,600 to cover her travel and accommodation as well as her visas and injections.

Any extra money raised will go to local charities in the area where she will be working.

She said: “It’s hard being a student and having to fund it myself.”
