Vi­o­let’s got de­sign skills all tied up

A YEAR Four pupil from Farn­bor­ough Road Pri­mary School, Vi­o­let Nel­son, won a “de­sign a tie” com­pe­ti­tion run by South­port and Birk­dale Sports Club.

Tony El­wood, South­port and Birk­dale Cricket Club chair­per­son, sur­prised Vi­o­let by pre­sent­ing the award in as­sem­bly.

She was given a tie which had been spe­cially made based on her her de­sign, as well as two tick­ets to at­tend the re­cent cricket match be­tween Lan­cashire Cricket Club and Mid­dle­sex.

It is es­ti­mated that around 60 chil­dren from Farn­bor­ough Road Pri­mary en­tered the com­pe­ti­tion.

Adrian An­tell, the school’s head teacher, said: “We are very proud of Vi­o­let, and we are very pleased that her de­sign could help the South­port and Birk­dale cricket club. “She had no idea, so she was very sur­prised and de­lighted to re­ceive the award.

“She has been wear­ing her tie de­sign around school with a big smile.”

Vi­o­let’s tie has also made a TV ap­pear­ance, when the pre­sen­ter of the BBC’s North West Tonight, Roger John­son, wore it to present the show.
