Kissock makes Port return

- BY JAMIE LOPEZ

SOUTHPORT FC have confirmed the return of attacking midfielder John Paul Kissock.

Kissock had spent the past few weeks with the club after leaving Ebbsfleet United earlier in the summer and played 90 minutes in Saturday’s home friendly with Blackpool.

The creative player enjoyed his best football at Southport under Liam Watson in 2010-11, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

He moved to Luton Town but has failed to establish himself at a club since then and has changed clubs six times since leaving Southport.

The former England youth international was used as an attacking midfielder by Watson but has been deployed on the right side of a midfield three so far by new boss Alan Lewer.

Kissock said: “I’ve got a lot of feelings for the club so I’m really happy to be back.

“The supporters have always been brilliant with me and it’s a club I really like.

“I left to go to Luton and moved around a little bit. I wanted to get a little closer to home.

“I’ve had a little girl and wanted to try and get back closer to Liverpool.

“I was made up when the staff here asked me to come down and sign because of the memories I’ve got here.

“They showed me how we’re going to play and told me about their ambitions so I’m really happy.

“We’ve got some great players. Dugdale’s a top player, Jenno’s a top player, there’s a good balance of experience and youth so I really think we can go for it. We need to get to the playoffs, 100%”
