Train sex assault: image is released
BRITISH Transport Police detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a sex assault on a train between Liverpool and Southport.
The incident happened on a Merseyrail service between Sandhills station and Ainsdale station on Wednesday, August 9.
A woman in her 20s was approached by a man at approximately 7.30pm. He whispered sexually inappropriate words to her and asked for a kiss.
At Ainsdale station, he approached the woman again and touched her inappropriately before leaving the train.
Det Con Scott McCabe said: “This was a frightening experience for the victim and we are urgently looking to identify the man responsible. If you have any information on who the person is in the CCTV images, then I would urge you to get in touch.
“I believe he has vital information which could assist our inquiries.
“No-one should ever be subjected to unwanted sexual contact such as this.
“I am grateful to the victim for reporting this incident to us, every report helps us identify a perpetrator and bring the before the courts.”
