All that jazz raises all that cash in aid of myeloma charity
A JAZZ afternoon in Southport has raised £1,000 for a cancer charity.
Members of the West Lancashire and Merseyside myeloma support group held the musical fundraiser on Saturday, September 30 to raise funds for the cancer charity Myeloma UK.
The event which was held at All Saints Church Hall Southport, attracted more than 70 people who were entertained by the Mark Lewis Quintet, with interval refreshments.
A spokesperson for the support group said: “The group meets once a month in Southport and is a great opportunity to meet patients, family members and carers in an informal and friendly environment and to learn more about living with myeloma which is a cancer of the bone marrow.
“The funds will help Myeloma UK to raise awareness among local GPs and nurses of myeloma which has one of the highest rates of delay in diagnosis.
“Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma.
“It helps myeloma patients live longer and with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development and access to new treatments, while helping patients and their families cope with everything a diagnosis brings.”
