It’s the brightest show on earth!
SPECTATORS have given their verdict on the spectacular 2017 British Musical Firew works Championship in Southport.
This year’s event at Victoria Park i in Southport was a champion of c champions contest, with all seven winners from previous years going head to head to claim the ultimate crown.
Taking the crown were Sirotechnics Fireworks – 2013 winners and now 2017 Champion of Champions, who staged the second display on Saturday night.
In second place were Bright S Sparks Fireworks Displays (2016 winners and second display on Sunday) while third were All-star Fireworks (2004 winners and the first display team on Saturday).
A spokesman for Sefton Council’s tourism team, which organises the annual event, said: “Congratulations to Sirotechnics and all of the competitors – our audience most certainly had the best firework displays of the year.
“You can see how much is put into each display.”
Head judge Tony Carell said: “Your audience are very lucky, you can travel the UK and Europe and you would struggle to find displays of that standard. Well done to all of our competitors.”
Spectators this year were certainly impressed.
Writing on the British Musical Fireworks Championship Facebook page, Claire Nicholas said: “Took part of our family after saying we were going for 10 years and not managing to make it. We had a baby and a rather excited two-year-old...
“When the fireworks started they were absolutely brilliant! Well worth the wait! The atmosphere in the crowd was really good.... a friendly atmosphere! Well worth £9 in my opinion!”
Alexandra Hielsing said: “It was my first time at the musical fireworks so I had no idea how much I would enjoy it! But it was amazing!
“I have no words to describe the feeling given by the synchronised, exquisite firework display with the touchy-feely melodies! ”
Jo Goodall said: “A fantastic event that I’ve been going to for years and it still never fails to amaze me. Great for the family to go to, or photographers like myself.
“Plenty of fireworks and music to keep you entertained along with entertainment for the kids and lots of food and drink stalls. Can’t recommend it enough.”
Emma Lou Young said: “Go every year as we’re lucky enough to live near it! Always a great night out with the kids. Weekend tickets are great value too!”
