Discounts on real ales thanks to local bars’ festivals to herald the autumn
WETHERSPOONS has announced what it describes as “The world’s biggest real ale festival”, which will be taking place at all of its pubs, writes Neville Grundy.
They will be serving beers from 30 award-winning breweries, including 25 from the UK, and five international brewers.
If you’re unsure what beers you might like, you can buy three different beers in one third of a pint measures for the price of a festival pint.
The local Wetherspoons are: the Sir Henry Segrave and the Willow Grove, both on Lord Street, Southport; the Court Leet, Wheatsheaf Walk, Ormskirk; the Queens Picture House, South Road, Waterloo; and the Lifeboat, Three Tuns Lane, Formby.
Dan Ferrier of the Willow Grove told Camra: “As we’re having a beer festival from October 11 to 22, we’re get- ting an extra temporary bar installed giving us a total of 24 real ale pumps for the duration of the festival.
“Last time we did this, it went really, really well”
For many years now, Wetherspoon has given Camra members vouchers every year worth 50p off a pint of real ale and real cider to a total value of £20.
