Fire crews cut driver from van af­ter Plaza crash

A DRIVER was cut out of a ve­hi­cle and air­lifted to hos­pi­tal af­ter a car crash in South­port.

The in­ci­dent took place at around 10.55am on Sun­day, when Mersey­side Po­lice were called.

The col­li­sion, which took place near McDon­ald’s, on Ocean Plaza, in­volved a Ford Mondeo and a Citroën van.

The fire ser­vice at­tended, and had to cut the van driver out of the ve­hi­cle. An air am­bu­lance also at­tended to take a driver to hos­pi­tal af­ter re­ports of neck pain.

For­tu­nately, it was later con­firmed by the hos­pi­tal that no life-threat­en­ing or se­ri­ous in­juries were sus­tained. Af­ter the in­ci­dent, both ve­hi­cles were re­cov­ered and the col­li­sion blocked the road.
