Gomez Bring It On again – after 20 years

AN INDIE-ROCK band from Southport are set to perform in a London show to celebrate their 20th anniversar­y.

Gomez are set to do a performanc­e to celebrate the 20th anniversar­y of their debut LP, Bring It On.

Their hit single, Bring It On, was released in 1998 and became a huge success on both sides of the Atlantic after it was awarded that year’s Mercury Music Prize.

To date, Bring It On has sold almost half a million copies.

The five-man band was formed in the seaside town in 1997, and is now largely based in America, but they will return to the UK next year with a London show.

The band consists of frontmen Ian Ball and Ben Ottewell, bassist Paul “Blackie” Blackburn, singer/ guitarist/keyboardpl­ayer Tom Gray, and drummer/producer Olly Peacock.

Gomez last toured the UK in 2012, but will take the stage at the Royal Albert Hall on May 3, 2018.
