All aboard for a taste of town’s finest rum
ARUM tasting event is to be held in Southport each month after a successful start. The Exclusive Piano Bar, on West Street, in Southport town centre, held its first pirate-themed tasting on Friday (November 3).
Guests tried six premium rums, and were entertained by a Captain Jack Sparrow impersonator.
Guests also have the opportunity to learn all about the history and origins of each rum.
Only 30 people can attend each event – and the first sold out very quickly.
The venue will be hosting the event on one Friday of each month.
Neil Wilson, 53, and his wife, Jitka, own the bar and said they were excited to welcome a variety of rums to their menu.
Neil said: “We haven’t quite got a distinctive rum bar in Southport, and it is something we are excited to get into.
“So far, we already sell 30 different types of the spirit at the venue, but there is soon to be many more.
“The first rum-tasting event sold out very quickly, but we will be holding one each month.”
The tasting event will run from 7pm until 9pm and will be exclusive to the 30 people who are participating in the tasting, but after 9pm the venue is an “open house”.
The rums on offer will change every time and the variety of premium rums offered within the bar will be continue to increase.
Tickets for the event cost £25, and include six rum samples, nibbles and canapes, entertainment and entry to the venue and live entertainment after the tasting.
The next event will take place on Friday, December 1.
